While his legal battles and accusations have been constantly made on his character and his sexuality, we have decided to focus only on his music and "Thriller" to be more specific.

Thriller was almost scraped

Not many know that "Thriller" was almost not made because of Michael's religious beliefs. The song featured ghosts and occult and so he was very skeptical to release it. There are reports that suggest that members of church even labelled the song as "promoting demonology" so Michael almost panicked when he saw the final footage. To end this battle, Michael had to attach a personal disclaimer before the song which said he was in no way promoting occult or any such vicious thing.

Midnight Man

At first the song was titled "Midnight Man" and the name stuck to it and almost made it to final cut. Songwriter Quincy Jones wrote down almost 200-300 song titles which could go with the song before finalizing "Midnight Man". But the next morning he just got up with the name "Thriller" and felt it suited the song better and could even see this title up in blockbuster names and the rest as we all know is history. Before this the title was "Starlight" when they began shooting.

Thriller and it's crazy cost

"Thriller" was an epic and every epic is costly. Michael Jackson's "Thriller" had a budget of whooping $500,000. Imagine using that kind of money years back and imagine it's worth now.

Oscar Thriller

In Westwood, California, "Thriller" was played before the movie "Fantasia" so that it could qualify to be sent as an official entry to Oscars. A lot of parents did not like the idea and even condemned it.

Million Copies a Week

It sounds crazy now but when the album hit the stores and the video made everyone crazy for Michael, the album sold 1 million copies every week.
